Patton said very littl e mQ!lel' has.. been

better facilities would attract more boys.
"Camping, the outdoors, the self-reliance
and doing for yourself, is the cornersto ne of
the Boy Scouts," Pat~on said. "Good camping
facilities are a must for a good Scouting program." He said many of the Chickasaw scouts
are inner-city youths, and that camping they
do as Boy Scouts may be the only experienc e
of that type they ever have.
The Council intends to purchase an additional 130 acres for the 320-acre Camp Currier and build a 25-acre lake, to build .a boath·
ouse and dock, and to add 12 troop campsites,
a 2,500-gallon water tank, central hot water

At Kia Kima, plans call for 26 new campsites with latrines and shower's; a dining hall
and kitchen at Camp Osage; a new sewer and
water system; two central hot water shower
systems, a new chapel, and a new boat equipment storage building. They also want to add
a camp staff and volunteer training center
and a trading post at Camp Osage, and to
remodel the ranger's home.
