VOLUNTEER TRAINING
AT PHILMONT
Each summer many Scouters and
families have the opportunity to attend a
training program at our 1beautiful
National Scout Ranch, Philmont, near
Cimarron, New Mexico. You may want to
set aside some time in the summer of
1975 to take advantage of one of these
training opportunities. If so, now is the
time to begin to make plans. We must
submit a list of prospects from our
council by November 1, 1974, to the
National Council Office.
Scouters may attend courses given for
the unit, district, or council position they
now hold or for a Scouting job they will
hold in the near future. No dates as yet
have been set for the courses. You just

66% MORE LEADERS RECRUITED AT
SCHOOL NIGHTS
This year the School Night for Scouting Program was changed from a one
night stand when all the schools were
opened to a night by night program
taking one school at a time. The results
are that there is more time for promotion, better attendance and more leaders.
It has been a little confusing matching a
Pack or Troop with a particular school
but the results of more leadership has
made the change worthwhile.

FALL CAMPOREE
All Troops and Packs can take part in
one of the most fun -filled camporees in
many a y.ear. Troops are encouraged to
check in b etween 4:00 to 8:00 P. M.,
Friday, Oc tober 15. Fun action events
will take place all day Sa turday topped
by a campfire and Indian Dancing Saturday night. Cubs are invited to the

DISTRICT ANNUAL BUSINESS
MEETING
On October 29, at 7:30 P.M., the
district will hold its annual business meeting
at the West Memphis Utility Commission,
604 E. Cooper. The purpose of the
District's Annual Business Meeting is to
elect the coming year's district officers.
The nominees for these various district
positions will be presented by a nominating
committee to the Institutional Representatives
(!R's) and Members-at-large of
the district for their approval. For this
reason it is important for as many Institut
ional Representatives and District
Members-at-large as possible to attend
this meeting. They are the only voting
members of the district. A great deal of
what happens for the boys of our district
in 1975 will be determined by the outcome
of this meeting, so let's make every
possible effort to ensure t.he success of
this meeting.

SCHOOL NIGHTS
This year the School Night for Scout ing
Program was changed from a one
night stand when all the schools were
opened to a night by night program
taking one school at a time. The results
are that there is more time for promotion,
better attendance and more leaders.
It has been a little confusing matching a
Pack or Troop with a particular school
but the results of more leadership has
made the change worthwhile.
